PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a substance having inhibitory actions on a cyclooxygenase-2 with slight adverse effects. SOLUTION: This tricyclic condensed imidazole derivative is represented by the general formula (1) [wherein R1 is a lower alkoxyl group, a halogen atom or the like; R2 is hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or the like; X-A is (CH2)m, OCH2 or the like; Y-Z is C(R5)-N, C(R5)-C(R6) or the like; n is an integer of 1-3; and R5 and R6 denote each hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or the like].
