PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attempt the automatic repair of an electromagnetic stop valve in case of the occurrence of an operation defect in the valve. SOLUTION: Hot water is supplied to a storage tank 11 by opening of a hot water feed valve 14 consisting of the electromagnetic stop valve interposed in a hot water feed pipe 13 and is drained by opening of a drain valve 20 likewise consisting of the electromagnetic stop valve disposed in a drain port 11B. When the occurrence of a valve closure defect in the hot water feed valve 14 is detected by a float switch 12, the drain valve 20 is opened and water is drained and the hot water feed valve 14 is driven to be forcibly opened and closed several times for several seconds each. If the cause for the valve closure defect is the bite of foreign matter, the foreign matter is removed by the opening and closing action of the hot water feed valve 14 and the valve closure defect is repaired. In case the repair is still infeasible even if the opening and closing drive of the hot water feed valve 14 is carried out several times, an error signal is emitted. When the valve closure defect is similarly detected even with the drain valve 20, the drain valve is driven to be forcibly opened and closed several times and if the cause for the valve closure defect is the bite of the foreign matter, the foreign matter is removed and the valve closure defect is automatically repaired.
