PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rational structure that is superior in productivity and also a rational manufacturing process having the reduced environmental load, of a patterned media. SOLUTION: The high density magnetic medium patterned media include a matrix thin film 8 covering over a media substrate or an array 4 of recessed trenches formed by etching on the media substrate. The recessed parts of the array 4 are filled with a magnetic material up to a level of the film 8 or the surface of the media substrate for forming an array 6 of magnetic bits.
