PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information embedding device for partial image retrieval which adds a keyword to a partial image in order to make it possible to perform retrieval with the partial image itself as a retrieval object no matter which image file the partial image is included in. SOLUTION: This information embedding device for partial image retrieval receives the designation of a partial rectangular area of an image (step S203) and an input of a keyword (step S204) and embeds the received keyword in image data corresponding to the designated rectangular area as an electronic watermark (step S205).
