PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the freezing capacity from lowering due to heat loss at a motor valve section in a cooling system where high pressure liquid refrigerant piping is provided with a motor valve. SOLUTION: The refrigerator comprises a machine chamber 2 sectioned at a part of a refrigerator body 1, a machine chamber 5 for cooling the inside of the machine chamber 2, and a motor valve 12 for controlling the refrigerant channel between a condenser and a pressure reducing means. A compressor 6, the machine chamber 5 and the motor valve 12 are disposed in the machine chamber 2. An air inlet 9 for supplying outdoor air into the machine chamber 2 through operation of the machine chamber 5, a rear air inlet 18, and an air outlet 10 for introducing the air to the outside after cooling the inside of the machine chamber 2 constitute a machine room air duct and the motor valve 12 is disposed on the upstream side of the compressor 6 in the machine room air duct. Since the air heated by the compressor 6 does not flow to the periphery of the motor valve 12 but it is discharged to the outside of the machine chamber 2, freezing capacity can be prevented from lowering due to generation of flash gas in front of a voltage unit.
