PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output control method and a device that can properly display the aspect ratio of a main picture even in the case that the aspect ratios of thumbnail pictures differs from the aspect ratio of the main picture. SOLUTION: The output control device is provided with a TV display control section 207 to display image data photographed by a digital camera onto a TV 104. The TV display control section 207 compares the aspect ratio of the thumbnail pictures with the aspect ratio of the main picture in the image data, and uses the thumbnail pictures for display data displayed on the TV 104 when the aspect ratios are identical to each other or uses the main picture for the display data when the aspect ratios are different from each other.
