PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a push button switch capable of easily holding a push button at a push-in position with slight force and showing great resilience when the push button is released from thrust. SOLUTION: A push button switch which has a push button 2 arranged on a switch body 1 so as to be slid with the energization of a resilient spring 3 comprises a hole portion 6 formed in the push button 2 in its push-in direction, a ball spring 7 internally inserted in the hole portion 6, a window portion 8 to be open to the side face of the push button 2 in communication with the bottom of the hole portion 6, a temporarily locking ball 9 arranged in the window portion 8, a recessed portion 10 formed along a wall face on the side of the switch body 1, where the push button is slid, for fitting a portion of the temporarily locking ball 9 where the push button 2 is pushed in, and an auxiliary push button 12 arranged on the upper part of the push button 2 so as to be pushed in with the energization of the ball spring 7 for thrusting the temporarily locking ball 9 to the outside via the ball spring 7, when pushed in, and fitting the portion of the temporarily locking ball 9 pushed out thereof to the recessed portion 10 formed along the wall face of the side of the switch body 1.
