The trim strip (1) and water gutter for a motor vehicle door is fixed along the edge of the bodywork above the door. It has an outer face (1a) which is flat and fixed on the edge by clipping using staples (6) on the inner face of the trim. The staples each have a head (6a) projecting as a frusto-conical shape to clip elastically into an opening in the edge.
