PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both a coating capable of forming a high water-repellent surface layer having slight deterioration of water repellency with time, smoothness and improved lubricating properties and providing an article with functions such as snow dropping properties, stain resistance, etc., and an article having a highly water-repellent surface layer with 0.5μm average roughness of central line made by using the coating material. SOLUTION: This water-repellent coating comprises a metal oxide particle having a uniformly fluorinated surface, a silicone resin and an agent for reducing a coefficient of friction as essential components. This article having a highly water-repellent surface layer is obtained by coating an article with the water- repellent coating.
