PURPOSE: To reduce the case height of an apparatus to be used by decreasing the outer diameter of a body portion, to smooth pressing operation, and to facilitate assembly, in the case of a pressing/rotating operation-type electronic component operated by tangentially rotating the periphery of a round operation knob projecting from an operation surface of the apparatus or by pressing the periphery of the knob toward the center of rotation. CONSTITUTION: In this electronic component, a stepped columnar body 34 of rotation with a large-diameter middle part forming a columnar knob part 35 is rotatably held in a four-cornered frame body 33 turnably supported on a base body part 31. Fixed elastic contacts 39A, 39B, 39C held on the body part 31 are brought into elastic contact with a movable contact 37 provided on a peripheral surface of a round shaft part 36 on the side of the knob part 35, thus forming a rotary encoder part. A self-resetting push-switch part 41 actuated by the turning motion of the frame body 33 is disposed on the body part 31.
