PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the electrical characteristics of transistor(TR) elements consisting of single crystal silicon layers covered by insulating films by preventing the substrate floating effect which occurs as the channel regions of these elements are held electrically afloat and to sufficiently assure the aperture ratios of the pixel regions of an electro-optic device of a transmission type. SOLUTION: The channel region 1a' of a semiconductor layer 1a has an extension part 201. The terminal part of the extension part 201 is connected to a contact hole 202. This contact hole 202 is directly connected to a capacitor line 3b.
