PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high-speed processing and to reduce a scale of an image processor in the case of decoding a coded image in compliance with the JPEG system and displaying the decoded image with reduction. SOLUTION: A reduction rate setting section 26 sets a reduction rate of an image when its image data is displayed on a monitor 3. An inverse DCT conversion section 23 uses only data corresponding to the reduction rate in the data coded in compliance with the JPEG system to apply inverse DCT to the corresponding data. Then a reduction section 15 applies sub-sampling to the image obtained by the result and gives the sub-sampled image to the monitor 3, which displays the image.
