PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical magnetic head and an optical magnetic disk device capable of executing recording/reproducing of high density by shortening an overlap between a record mark and a reproducing near-field light spot. SOLUTION: A laser beam emitted from a semiconductor laser is condensed on a surface 6c to be condensed of a transparent condensing medium 6 to form a light spot 9a, and the near-field spot 9b is exuded from a rectangular opening 13 of a light shielding body 14. When LP-MFM recording is executed using the rectangular near-field spot 9b, the rectangular record mark is formed. Since the record mark and the reproducing near-field light spot 9b are nearly the same rectangular shape, an over lapping distance (time) between the record mark and the near-field light spot 9b becomes short, and a correct reproducing signal large in modulation degree and small in jitter is obtained even if an interval between the record marks is narrowed.
