The method involves providing a flat part (6) with a smooth surface on the area of the wall facing the side edge (5) of the bathtub. After placing the bathtub in position, the edge of the bath is sealed against the flat part. The flat part may be a film band and may be glued to the wall. A shell uncoupling band or mat may be placed between the flat part and the bathtub edge.
