A harvest gathering machine which includes a rotor 11 mounted on a movable frame 12 and carries a series of transverse combs 14, each consisting of a set of teeth 15 which project outwards transversely with respect to the direction of movement of the machine through the crop. Each tooth 15 is oriented in such a manner that its lateral edges diverge from the distal point of the tooth. The rotor rotates in the upper delivery unthreshed corn heap-formation mode and the combs penetrate the crop and pick up the crop shoots (sprouts, buds, ears) between the adjacent pairs of teeth and separate the grain and the grain ears, or other required parts of the crop, by means of friction or by means of breaking the parts in question in order to separate them from the stalks (stems). The join of the adjacent teeth 15 preferably has a widened opening 21 to facilitate separation and to allow extraction of the stripped stalks.
