PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convey both cutform and continuous paper onto the same path of conveyance and to feed continuous paper without deskewing it. SOLUTION: When a paper sensor PE senses the end of roll paper PR fed by a roll paper mode, a conveying roller is rotated in a forward direction by a specified number of driving steps to feed a length L forward, and at the same time a paper feed roller is rotated in the forward direction and caused to wait in a reset position (Figure (a)). After only the conveying roller 4 is rotated in the reverse direction (Figure (b)), the paper feed roller and the conveying roller 4 are simultaneously rotated in the forward direction to perform initial setting of a certain length L0 (Figure (c)). In a continuous paper mode, deskewing is not performed, so that even if the end of continuous paper is cut diagonally to a paper feeding direction, initial setting can correctly performed in the paper feeding direction; also, stopping the conveying roller does not cause rotation of the paper feed roller, so that slip will not occur and no sound is generated to achieve noise reduction.
