PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical shaft pump facilitated in change of installation from a horizontal shaft pump to a vertical shaft pump and capable of reducing a load to be applied to a pump installed floor while reducing the weight of a motor base by lowering the projection height of the vertical shaft pump from the pump installed floor and a height from the pump installed floor to the top of the motor. SOLUTION: A reduction gear 14 is built in a discharge pipe 6 continuously provided to an upper side of a lifting pipe 5. With this structure, projection height H of a vertical shaft pump P is lowered to the height of a discharge pipe 9, and while a motor 20 can be installed in a motor base 22 having a small height dimension, and a height H4 from a pump installed floor 12 to the top of the motor 20 can be lowered. Furthermore, a load to be applied to the pump installed floor 12 can be reduced by using the light motor base 22 having a small height dimension.
