PURPOSE: A piston clearance measuring device is provided to reduce working process and working hours by measuring with separating a rocker arm cover, and to measure various clearances between the maximum opening of a valve and a top dead center of a piston precisely despite an inclined top face of a piston. CONSTITUTION: A rocker arm cover is removed from a cylinder head(30), and two cylinder head bolts near a measuring valve are unscrewed and separated. A first supporting plate(2) is fixed in the cylinder head by two fixing bolts. A second supporting plate(4) is fastened in the first supporting plate by the fixing bolt with contacting an adjusting bolt(26) to a valve head. First and second adjusting panels are adjusted to set the indicator to 0 and fastened by a bolt(40) with contacting an indicating rod(34) of a measuring instrument to a top face of a valve spring retainer(14). The adjusting bolt is tightened in placing a piston(60) on the top dead center and setting the measuring instrument. The clearance between the piston and a valve(50) is measured with reading the indicated value in contacting the top face of the piston to the bottom of the valve while closing the valve and placing the piston on the top dead center.
