PURPOSE: A set-top box is provided to store a large amount of compressed audio or video data within a short time by allowing the compressed audio or video data to be stored at a memory card via an interface and to be reproduced. CONSTITUTION: The set-top box includes a tuner(100) for selecting a signal of a channel desired by a viewer. A QPSK demodulator(200) demodulates the selected signal in the tuner(100). A transmit decoder(300) matches the signal from the QPSK demodulator(200) to a format necessary for signal transmission. An MPEG decoder(400) receives an output signal at one end of the output signal from the transmit decoder(300) and decompresses compressed audio and image signals. A display(1000) displays the audio and video signals from the MPEG decoder(400). A data decoder(500) receives an output signal at other end of the output signal from the transmit decoder(300) and selects only compressed MP3 audio data added to the audio and video data to remove additional information. A main controller(600) is connected to the transmit decoder(300), the MPEG decoder(400) and the data decoder(500) and controls inputted signals. An interface unit(700) determines a connection condition so that main information included in the data decoder(500) can be stored at the storage. A slot(800) fixes a memory card(900) so that the compressed MP3 audio data from the interface unit(7000 can be stored.
