PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame atomic absorption analyzer provided with a safety device of high reliability and a simple operation for preventing backfire in changing over supporting gas. SOLUTION: This flame atomic absorption analyzer provided with a flow rate detector 41 outputting the flow rate of a fuel gas as an electric signal, a flow rate controller 4 feeding back the output signal Ef of the flow rate detector 41 and controlling the flow rate of the fuel gas to approach to a set value Sf, and valves 11, 21 and a valve control circuit changing over and using two types of supporting gases by opening/closing of valves provided in respective flow passages is provided with a comparator 73 comparing the output Ef of the flow rate detector 41 with the set value Sf and outputting a signal Ec for turning on/off according the magnitude correlation between than and is characterized that a valve control circuit 72 is so constituted as to interlock the operation of the valve, when the signal Ec is either one of ON or OFF.
