PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a product sum operating method for processing digital signals. SOLUTION: After normalization (S109), whether or not the results of the normalization are saturated is discriminated (S110) and, when the results are saturated, the next data to be operated for product sum are integrated (S111) and the signs of the integrated results and saturated results are discriminated (S112). When the signs coincide with each other, whether or not the remaining repeat count is terminated is discriminated (S113) and the original product sum operation is not performed, but the steps from S111 to S113 are continuously executed, until the remaining repeat count is reached or the signs become noncoincident with each other. When this method is used, the processing speed becomes faster when saturation is caused by normalization during repetitive product sum operations and the same repeat as that in which the signs of data to be operated for product sum are equal to those of normalized results continues. |
