PURPOSE: An abrasive belt dressing device is provided to remove a flaw on a strip surface and polish by grinding with a smooth abrasive belt without regrinding, and to prevent the strip fracture by edge drop in rolling. CONSTITUTION: A dressing device for an abrasive belt is composed of a base member(5) installed in a grinding cabin(1); a cylinder member(9) being in horizontal state with the base member and moving a movable bar(7) back and forth; and a grinding bar case(29) being in horizontal state with the base member and combined with a grinding bar dressing the surface of an abrasive belt(25) with contacting the abrasive belt. A controller(23) moves the movable bar into the base member by moving the cylinder member backward in finishing an established time of a timer(71). The controller shuts off a control valve not to supply polishing oil to a feed line in releasing the detection of a sensor bar. A driving roll(43) turns the smooth abrasive belt, and contacts the strip and the abrasive belt by lifting a billy roll(81) in moving a strip(95) on a grinding line. The abrasive belt dressing device removes flaw on the surface of the strip while continuously polishing.
