PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain plate making by a simple operation without requiring development, to also attain plate making after direct attachment to a printing machine and to produce a planographic printing plate less liable to printing stain on the printing surface and capable of surface exposure. SOLUTION: An image recording layer disposed on a substrate, having a hydrophilic surface and containing an oxidizable material and a reducible material, preferably a water-soluble metallic salt is imagewise irradiated with active light in the presence of a photocatalytic metallic compound to form an imagewise distribution of fine chips of the constituent metal of the water-soluble metallic compound in the imagewise irradiated region and the imagewise distributed fine chips are treated with a sulfur-containing sensitizer to make the imagewise irradiated region hydrophobic. The objective planographic printing plate is thus produced. |
