PURPOSE: A resonator is provided to reduce noises of the entire range of engine rpm without falling of pressure by employing a resonator expansion chamber connected with an air induction system and to reduce peak noise or rattle noise occurring due to specific frequency. CONSTITUTION: In a resonator, a resonator expansion chamber consisting of an upper body and a lower body(12b) bonded with each other by hot welding is divided into a chamber room(16) and a Helmholtz room(18) via a partition plate(14). In the chamber room, a cavity resonator(20) with many cavities(20a) is placed. At both ends of the cavity resonator, air inlet and outlet connection pipes connected with an air induction line are installed. The Helmholtz room is communicated with a diffuser neck(26) connected with the cavity resonator, and the diffuser neck is sealed by a packing(28). When air flows into the cavity resonator with suction resistance, noises of the entire range of engine rpm are reduced by the cavities communicated with the chamber room. Peak noise or rattle noise occurring due to specific frequency is reduced via the diffuser neck.
