PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obstruction detecting device capable of informing a user of the position of a detected obstruction. SOLUTION: A control unit 2 is provided with a transmitting signal circuit 3 for transmitting ultrasonic waves from ultrasonic sensors 1a-1d; a receiving signal circuit 4 to which receive signals of the respective ultrasonic sensors 1a-1d are inputted; and a detecting circuit 5 for detecting the presence of an obstruction from the output of the receiving signal circuit 4 and sounding a buzzer 6 upon detecting the presence of the obstruction. In the detecting circuit 5, level detecting circuits 52a-52d detect the presence of the obstruction from the receive signals of the corresponding ultrasonic sensors 1a-1d, and on the basis of the detected result, a detection judging circuit 53 detects the obstruction and judges the ultrasonic sensors 1a-1d to determine frequency for sounding the buzzer 6. The buzzer 6 is sounded with alarm sound different in frequency according to the ultrasonic sensors 1a-1d detecting the obstruction.
