PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting an error in an exhaust system is provided to detect the error in the exhaust system by comparing pressure wave form generated from the exhaust system with standard pressure wave form. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting an error in an exhaust system comprises an exhaust manifold(10), an exhaust pipe(20), a catalyst converter(30), a pressure detecting section(40), a muffler(50), an engine RPM detecting section(60), a control section(70) and an alarming section(80). The exhaust manifold(10) collects exhaust gas discharged from each combustion chamber of an engine. The exhaust pipe(20) guides exhaust gas generated from the exhaust manifold(10). The catalyst converter(30) purifies exhaust gas. The pressure detecting section(40) is installed at a rear of the catalyst converter(30) so as to detect the pressure of exhaust gas. The muffler(50) removes the noise of exhaust gas. The engine RPM detecting section(60) detects the RPM of an engine and outputs a predetermined electric signal. The control section(70) generates control signals depending on the pressure of exhaust gas so as to control the apparatus.
