PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for jetting ink dots which is easy to control. SOLUTION: In the ink-jet recording apparatus, a basic pulse for rapidly increasing a pressure of ink in a nozzle thereby discharging ink dots, and a control pulse for decreasing the ink pressure in the nozzle before ink dots discharged by the basic pulse separate from the nozzle are impressed, thereby controlling an amount of ink discharged from the nozzle. In the apparatus, the basic pulse is constituted to be a binary pulse which instantaneously moves to a first state of a sufficient length wherein the pressure in the nozzle is stabilized to a predetermined pressure before ink discharge, and a second state wherein the pressure in the nozzle is rapidly increased from the first state. The control pulse is constituted to be a binary pulse having a first state of a length whereby the pressure in the nozzle will not reach the pressure before ink discharge. Moreover, an interval between the basic pulse and the control pulse is increased and decreased in accordance with an amount of ink dots to be controlled. |
