PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for an electronic throttle device with the function of diagnosing magnet rotors and detecting than to be in failure. SOLUTION: In an electronic throttle device for driving a throttle valve in an automobile internal combustion engine with an electric motor, the electric motor M has a plurality of magnet rotors 3a, 3b fixed to different positions on a rotating shaft 17, a stator 33 arranged around the magnet rotors 3a, 3b and a plurality of magnetic sensors 4a, 4b for detecting a magnetic field generated by the magnet rotors 3a, 3b, the magnet rotors 3a, 3b being diagnosed to be in failure in accordance with output signals from the magnetic sensor 4a, 4b.
