PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce energy consumption by a method wherein vaporized gas, generated upon drying a matter to be treated by drying, is condensed by a condenser to separate the same into an exhaust gas and condensed water while the separated condensed water is introduced into an areation tank to aerate the same by the exhaust gas. SOLUTION: A matter to be treated by drying 1, such as sludge and botanic residue which are generated from a food factory or the like, is dried at a comparatively low temperature of the degree of 120 deg.C by an indirect heating drying machine 2 to obtain a dried product 3. In this case, a vaporized gas 4, generated upon drying the matter to be treated by drying 1, is condensed by a condenser 5 equipped with a cooling tower to separate the same into an exhaust gas 8 and condensed water 6 while the separated condensed water 6 is introduced into an aeration tank 7 to treat the same by performing aeration by the separated exhaust gas 8. According to this method, a fuel consumption in a drying process can be saved while the evaporation of volatile organic substance and the generation or synthesis of organic chlorides can be prevented.
