PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate deficiency of an image display, and to facilitate mounting and removing of a liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: A tapered portion 31 that separates from a display panel 2 gradually from the lower side than a boundary surface between panel materials 4, 5 toward the upper end is formed in a holding wall 15 of a holding frame 11 for holding the periphery of a flat display panel 2 such as a liquid crystal panel. A holding surface 15a abutting on only the end surface of the panel material 4 below the boundary surface between the panel materials 4, 5 is provided on the panel material 4 side below the boundary surface.
