<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and device for discriminating a silicon ingot suitable for solar batteries. SOLUTION: A silicon ingot 20 to be measured is sandwiched between a disk-like file 1 and a metallic sheet and a contact potential is generated from the contacting surface of the ingot 20 by rotating the file 1 while the file 1 is brought into contact with the ingot 20. Then the physical properties (p-type or n-type) of the ingot 20 are discriminated from the flowing direction of the current of the generated contact potential and, at the same time, the characteristics (electrical characteristics) of the ingot 20 are discriminated based on the magnitude of the current. A device for discriminating conductor or semiconductor ingot is provided with the disk-like file 1, an electrode which is brought into contact with the side face of the file 1, and the metallic sheet which is positioned at an appropriate interval from the file 1. The device is also provided with an ammeter 5 and a measuring means which measures the contact potential by bringing the ingot 20 into contact with the metallic sheet and, at the same time, with the file 1. The characteristics (electrical characteristics) of the ingot 20 can be discriminated from the magnitude of the current.</p> |
