PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which is stable for a long period and which has excellent photoelectric characteristics and mechanical strength and a long life by preparing a photofunctional coating liquid containing one or more kinds of specified photofunctional organic silicon compounds, applying the liquid and hardening to form a hardened layer. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor has a layer formed by applying a photofunctional coating liquid and hardening to form a hardened film. The photofunctional coating liquid is prepared by bringing a solution containing one or more kinds of photofunctional organic silicon compounds expressed by the formula of F-[D-A]b into contact with a solid catalyst to react and then separating the solid catalyst. In the formula, F is an organic group derived from the photofunctional compound, D is a flexible subunit, A is a substituted silicon group having a hydrolyzable group expressed by -Si(R1)(3-a)Qa, where R1 is a hydrogen atom, alkyl group, substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, Q is a hydrolyzable group, and (a) is an integer 1 to 3, and b is an integer 1 to 4.
