The invention concerns an apparatus (31) for treating a gas mixture containing hydrogen and water vapour, comprising a housing (32) defining a pipe (33) having a substantially inverted U-shape, the gas mixture penetrating into said apparatus through a first branch (301) of said inverted U (36), circulating in said pipe naturally, and coming out through the second branch (302) of said inverted U substantially free of hydrogen and water vapour (37), said apparatus comprising cooled means for cold process catalytic recombination (38) of the hydrogen, located in the lower part of said first branch (301) of said inverted U, and means for condensing the water vapour (39) located in the upper part of said second branch (302) of said inverted U. Such types of apparatus are particularly designed to be used in an installation such as the confinement housing or chamber of a nuclear reactor, where hydrogen and water vapour can be produced and accumulated in case of serious accident. |
