PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate waste power consumption by outputting a video only when there is a person in front of a monitor base unit at the time of calling from a street handset with camera, and outputting no video when there is no person in front of the monitor base unit. SOLUTION: Concerning the video inter phone device capable of speaking while watching a video by calling a monitor base unit 200 from a street door handset 100 with camera, the monitor base unit 200 has human body sensors 217 and 218 for detecting the presence/absence of a person in front of the monitor base unit at the time of calling from the street door handset 100 with camera and a CPU 214 for controlling an output control circuit for outputting the video corresponding to output signals of the human body sensors.
