<p>An image display device which provides a brightness gradient monotonously decreased by a brightness gradient forming means from the center to the peripheries of a screen instead of providing an almost uniform brightness over the entire screen, whereby reducing power consumption in comparison with an almost-uniform-brightness screen. Another image display device which improves by an optimized gradation a reduction in brightness impression caused due to brightness lowered by a brightness index improving means, thereby making a brightness gradient less perceptible without increasing power consumption. The above arrangements can implement a large-screen, low-power-consumption display device.</p> |
