PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent the leakage of water into a trough while the rotation of a gate is kept easy with respect to the device for receiving scum into the trough by rotating the gate provided for the opening of the trough by furnishing a watertight bearing impermeable to water at the lower part of the gate. SOLUTION: The trough 1 of a scum remover to be set in the settling basin of a sewerage disposal plant is provided at the water-surface part of the basin and allowed to receive scum in the trough 1 by opening a gate 2 when the scum is scraped up by a scraper. The lower end of the gate 2 is made freely rotatable through a watertight bearing 10 provided close to the opening 1a of the trough 1. The bearing 10 is composed of an I part 10a, a crevice, a cylinder and a spindle 10d, the circular part of the spindle 10d is received by an L-shaped seal member 11 fixed to the trough 1 and abutted thereon, and hence the leakage of water into the trough 1 is effectively prevented.
