PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an azo dye without using a diazonium salt unstable to heat and light. SOLUTION: This method for producing an azo dye comprises reacting a hydrazine derivative expressed by the general formula (1) with a coupler expressed by the general formula (2) and having a releasing group at the coupling position. The general formula (1): Ar-NH-NH2, the general formula (2): L-Cp. Therein, in the general (1), Ar indicates an aromatic group. In the general formula (2), L indicates a releasing group with can be released on the reaction of the coupler with a hydrazine derivative, and Cp is a coupler motor nucleus. |
