PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even a person who is not skilled in a way how cooking by charcoal fire to well carry out charcoal fire cooking by making it possible to automatically maintain a cooking temperature at a desired temperature simply by putting the charcoal into a griller and setting its temperature. SOLUTION: This charcoal griller has a food loading section 13 on which the food to be well broiled is placed, a charcoal arranging section 30 which is arranged below the food loading section 13 and allows the arrangement of the charcoal, a drive section 40 which moves the charcoal arranging section 30 with respect to the food loading section 13, a temperature sensing means 15 which senses the temperature near the food loading section 30 and generates a sensed temperature signal and a temperature setting means for setting the temperature near the food loading section 30 at a desired temperature. This temperature setting means controls the movement of the charcoal arranging section 30 by activating the drive section 40 in such a manner that the temperature near the food loading section 30 attains a desired temperature after responding to a sensed temperature signal from the temperature sensing means 15. As a result, the desired cooking temperature may be maintained regardless of the firing degrees of the charcoal fire and, therefore, the well broiled cooking by the charcoal fire may be rapidly and well carried out without requiring skill.
