PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera whose handleability is improved by automatically judging a night scene and performing photographing operation suitable for the night scene even when a photographer does not set a mode. SOLUTION: In this camera, a microcomputer 11 detects luminance distribution in a photographic image plane based on the result of output from an AF area sensor 12. An area where specified luminance is continued is judged based on the result of the output. Based on the judged result about a luminance area, a specified area of a area where a specified luminance is continued is calculated. Then, a photographing mode is decided based on the calculated result. |
