METHOD FOR DRYING PAROXETINE HYDROCHLORIDE NONHYDRATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for drying paroxetine hydrochloride nonhydrate by which the content of isopropyl alcohol left in the paroxetine hydrochloride nonhydrate crystallized in the presence of the isopropyl alcohol can efficiently be reduced in a short time without needing a large device and so on. SOLUTION: This method for drying paroxetine hydrochloride nonhydrate comprises reacting the paroxetine compound with hydrogen chloride in the presence of isopropyl alcohol, crystallizing the obtained paroxetine hydrochloride, drying the obtained paroxetine hydrochloride nonhydrate in a substantially water-free atmosphere at the atmospheric pressure or lower at a temperature o <=60 deg.C until to give an isopropyl alcohol content of <=15 wt.%, and further drying the paroxetine hydrochloride nonhydrate at a temperature of 80 to 110 deg.C in an atmosphere having a reduced pressure of <=20 mmHg until to give an isopropyl alcohol content of <=5 wt.%.
