A polyoxyalkylene polyol is hydrolyzed with highly pressurized liquid water having a temperature of 320 to 500 DEG C or with supercritical water to yield glycols having a molecular weight of 150 or lower. The glycols are recovered. Thus, a method for the chemical recycling of a polyurethane resin has been accomplished in a true sense.
