The propulsion unit consists of a housing (2) with front (3) and rear (4) walls, containing a rotor (1) driven by an exterior motor to centrifuge a fluid and create a substantial pressure diffference between the front and rear walls to generate a propulsive force. The rotor can be a simple wheel with radial vanes or a centrifugal compressor, preferably with two symmetrical faces to expel the fluid radially, and it creates a higher pressure against the nearer front wall of the housing than the more distant rear wall.
