PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque sensor which can detect steering angles and torque and a motor-driven steering apparatus using the sensor. SOLUTION: A torque sensor is constituted in such a way that an elliptic magnet plate 51 is attached to an input shaft 1 and a second elliptic magnet plate 52 is attached to an output shaft 2. The magnet plates 51 and 52 are magnetized and the intensities of the magnetic fields formed by the magnet plates 51 and 52 are detected by means of magnetic sensors MG1 and MG2 arranged outside the first magnet plate 51 and a magnet sensor MG3 arranged outside the second magnet plate 52. The torque sensor detects steering angles and torque, based on the outputs of the magnetic sensors MG1, MG2, and MG3. |
