PURPOSE: To make an easy-to-see, well-balanced display of high quality by determining the kind and size of a font to be used according to the kind of characters and an input signal and generating a display signal of the characters according to the kind and size of the font. CONSTITUTION: An input signal decision part 2 decides the kind of graphics display standards of an input signal. The input signal decision part 2 outputs input signal kind information obtained by the decision together with the input signal and sends them to an OSD control micrometer 3. The OSD control microcomputer 3 determines the kind and size of the font of characters, icons or the like, for OSD display according to a display language request signal from a user which is supplied from a terminal 4 and the input signal from the part 2 and its kind information, and sends their information to a character generator IC 5. The character generator IC 5 generates a signal (OSD signal) for screen display according to the supplied information on the kind and size of the font. |
