PURPOSE: To provide a radio telephone system capable of international roaming for dealing with language or currency or the like which needs coping with the field situation at the time of traveling abroad. CONSTITUTION: When a user whose native language is Japanese uses a portable telephone device in America, a control circuit obtains the ID code of the nation from the base station of America at the time of position registration (steps A1 and A2). Then, a dictionary function for converting the mother language of the user, that is, Japanese into the language of America indicated by the obtained ID code, that is English, is selected from a storage part (a step A5).
