PURPOSE: A cathode structure of an electron gun for a cathode-ray tube is provided to shorten a period of time required for thermal stabilization and reduce consumption power. CONSTITUTION: The device includes a base(31) on which an electron emitting material(37) is coated, a sleeve(32) supporting the base, and a heater(35) located inside the sleeve to generate heat when a predetermined level of power is applied. The cathode structure further has a holder which is placed adjacent to the sleeve, surrounding the exterior of the sleeve, to support the sleeve and prevents the heat generated from the heater from being transmitted to portions other than the base. The holder includes an upper holder(34) for accommodating the sleeve, having a predetermined distance from the sleeve, and a lower holder(38) placed under the upper holer to be combined with the upper holder, having a predetermined distance.
