PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a diffusion barrier layer provided on the space between a substrate made of a superalloy and a silicon base ceramic material. SOLUTION: This article contains a substrate made of a superalloy, a silicon base ceramic material and a thermally stable silicon diffusion barrier layer. The thermally stable diffusion barrier layer is interposed on the space between the substrate and the ceramic material and prevents the diffusion of silicon or carbon into the substrate. The diffusion barrier film is thermally stable and also prevents the diffusion of silicon or carbon through the boundary face between the ceramic material and the superalloy. In the method for producing the article, a superalloy substrate is formed, a thermally stable diffusion barrier layer is applied on the substrate, and moreover, a silicon base ceramic material is carried on the substrate coated with the barrier layer. This diffusion barrier layer substantially prevents the diffusion of silicon from the ceramic material into the superalloy substrate. |
