PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly recognize the compression load that powder and granular materials receive and to stabilize product quality by directly detecting the compression load to be applied to the powder and granular materials between compression rollers by a strain sensor and subjecting the number of revolutions of a screw and the compression rollers to feedback control in accordance therewith. SOLUTION: The compression load that the powder and granular materials receive is calculated by a controller having a strain sensor 51, an indicating adjuster 81 and a sequencer 82 and the numbers of revolutions of the screw 23 and the compression rollers 38a and 38b are subjected to the feedback control in accordance therewith. Namely, the strain of a frame 42 detected by the strain sensor 51 is first sent to the indicating adjuster 81. In the indicating adjuster 81, the compression load that the powder and granular materials receive is calculated from the strain value sent thereto. This compression load and the various preset values are compared. The results of the comparison are sent to the sequencer 82 and the optimum operating forms of the screw 23 and the compression rollers 38a and 38b are determined and the number of revolutions are controlled in accordance with the prescribed control flow set by a control panel 83.
