PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To let an apnea detector make judgement on the start or stop of detection of a subject by itself. SOLUTION: This apnea detector bas a pressure measuring means 322 for detecting a subject's body movement including the respiration and outputting detection signals, a respiration judging means 312 for judging the respiration condition of the subject based on the detection signals outputted from the pressure measuring means 322 and a subject judging means 313 for judging the existence of the subject. Since the apnea detector has the subject judging means 313, the device can make judgement on the start or stop of detection of a subject by itself based on the detection signals generated from the body movement different from the normal respiration.
