The inner and outer spiral sectors (4,5) of a turbine housing (1) split the incoming flow of the exhaust gas through connection (2) to rotate the turbine, using a switching valve (10) between the two sectors (4,5) to close these off completely and at the same time. The valve (10) is rotatably mounted on the housing (1) and has a pair of valve elements for the respective spiral sectors and their complete closure. The switching valve opens and closes in response to a connecting mechanism arranged outside the turbine housing.
